Isaura Sanwirjatmo – Beautify

Beautify focuses on the new female beauty ideal that is rapidly becoming dominant, resulting in more and more women around the world beginning to look identical. This new beauty ideal has emerged with the rise of filters, influencers, and accessible cosmetic procedures such as fillers, and is spread globally through digital channels. Through this project, Sanwirjatmo aims to place this phenomenon within a broader social and socio-economic context.

Isaura Sanwirjatmo

House Guest

Our House Guests residency program invites transdisciplinary makers to share their artistic process, collaborate across knowledge domains, and test project prototypes with an audience.

Sanwirjatmo’s two-week residency included public try-outs, open sessions, and interactive moments that allowed visitors to engage directly with the work as it evolved toward its planned launch in fall 2025.

The residency concluded with a public program consisting of an artist talk, a panel discussion, and an informal social gathering. In conversation Sanwirjatmo reflected on the conceptual and artistic foundations of Beautify. This was followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Tom Decates (plastic surgeon and researcher at Erasmus University), Anne-Mette Hermans (Assistant Professor at Tilburg University), and Lena Semenova (influencer, reality TV personality, and expert by experience), situating the project within broader social, academic, and lived perspectives.
