RNDR – RNDRML (2021)

As part of a large-scale experiment entitled Perpetual Beta, The Grey Space hosted a group residency with three makers (collectives). In close collaboration with the public, a new form of presentation is explored based on the principles of open source. The result is an exhibition of work-in-progress, where the public is invited to take a look, participate and contribute.

RNDR

RNDR is an interactive media design studio that develops innovative digital tools that are only finished when used. They use the open source software OPENRNDR, a self-developed framework for creative coding, suitable for AI and machine learning applications amongst other things.

In ‘RNDRML’ the studio investigates what could be a digital version of “the designer” through a series of experiments. They take their own studio as a starting point and use their own data to develop bots that can perform rudimentary design tasks. Every week these AI bots are given new assignments, in order to investigate the possibilities of these techniques.
