As partner organisations, STATE.DPT and Milla Milla recognise an increasing need to cultivate third spaces dedicated to bringing together communities from the Global South and their allies through sport, culture and camaraderie. This is especially important at a time when physical spaces for marginalised communities to gather are being systematically eroded.
Acknowledging that this World Cup takes place within a highly complex sociopolitical landscape, IT’S STILL US presents a counter-narrative that seeks to reclaim space and re-centre the diasporic presence that has long been a driving force in shaping contemporary culture.
The programme features a capsule exhibition by Victor Kasiga and Akif Aliyev, live music during half-time and after the match, a live screening of the World Cup Final, and food throughout the event. Together, these elements offer a fitting and celebratory conclusion to a tournament marked by both excitement and debate.
At its core, IT’S STILL US affirms that football has always been—and will always remain—a place of belonging.
STATE.DPT is a grassroots cultural enrichment agency and creative studio operating in the subculture since 2020. Based in Den Haag, the agency bridges the gap between white-cube sociocultural theory and underground community enrichment, following a cultural ethos that advocates for collective responsibility and congregation at a time when third spaces have faced eradication.
As a catalyst for diverse, left-field cultural experiences, STATE.DPT has conducted high-grade exhibitions, panel talks, concerts, club nights, and multidisciplinary creative productions across the Netherlands.
