The evening presents the release presentation of Kormós, the new album by Tasos Kofodimos and Yvonne Melissa, alongside a set by Escarteen Sisters, who bring their distinctive sound and intimate musical dialogue to the stage. Two unique projects meet through a shared spirit of exploration, tradition, and creative exchange.
Tasos Kofodimos and Yvonne Melissa are active figures in the contemporary Greek music scene; they released their first duo album Myrra in 2023 and have performed extensively in Greece and abroad. Kormós is their new album, created in collaboration with Mahyar Tahmasbi (Iran) and Laia Escartin (Catalonia). Kormós consists of eight compositions and one free improvisation inspired by trees, myths, landscapes, and folk traditions. Drawing from Greek traditional music, the musical cultures of the Eastern Mediterranean, Persian music, and free improvisation, Kormós creates a rich and evocative soundscape where different traditions meet and transform one another.
Escarteen Sisters is the duo formed by sisters Laia and Flavia Escartin, a string quartet reduced to its essence: two voices, viola, and cello. They sing and play simultaneously, weaving instruments and voices into an intimate and expressive musical language. Their multicultural background—half Flemish, half Spanish, born between Mexico and Belgium—is at the heart of their artistic identity. Their compositions combine chamber music textures with folk-inspired melodies, African rhythms, jazz harmonies, and original texts sung in different languages, creating a unique sound world shaped by the raw connection of two sisters who have shared music since childhood.
