default #22
Hosted by default den haag
On Thursday, 13th of February, default den haag will feature performances by Janneke van der Putten, the duo Weston Olencki & Laura Cocks, and Sunik Kim.
Rotterdam-based artist Janneke van der Putten will present her acoustic voice performance, “Cycles: Overtones and Glottis Attack.” Specializing in producing multiple sounds simultaneously—such as basic tones, harmonics, and glottic attacks—she uses her voice as her primary tool to explore physical and sonic landscapes, engaging with specific sites and local contexts.
The composer-performer duo Weston Olencki & Laura Cocks will perform their piece, “Music for Two Flutes.” This work explores the flute with heavy physicality and sensitive buzzing, uncovering intensity and spectral saturation in unexpected places.
Sunik Kim, a musician, writer, and filmmaker based in Los Angeles, presents new material that blends elements of free jazz, noise, and Korean shamanic music. Their recent work focuses on the physicality of computer-generated electronic sounds, avoiding conventional “harsh” tropes in favor of clear synthesis and compositional complexity.
