Filling the Void: Mingus Janssen
This event is in the past. Click the button below for a selection of photos that were taken that day.
Presented by The Grey Space
For one night, The Grey Space will be transformed into the temporary headquarters of Mycelium Media. Within this mixed media installation, Mingus Janssen explores the integration of other-than-human perspectives into print media through a selection of his latest work.
Mycelium Media is a publishing house that infiltrates existing printed (news) media to add other-than-human perspectives to them. Correspondents of Mycelium Media are outfitted with custom suits, which each represent an (endangered) ecosystem and aid them in transitioning to a state of mind in which they can relate to more-than-humans. Several of these correspondents will be roaming through the space, acting as towncriers announcing more-than-human news, and working on the new edition of the Non-Human Newspaper.
Mingus Janssen is a recent graduate of the Royal Academy of Art, the Hague. During their studies they founded “Mycelium Media”, a publishing house that infiltrates existing forms of printed media in order to add other-than-human perspectives to them. Besides running Mycelium Media, Mingus Janssen is one of the founders of Ondergronds Socialisme, a political party dedicated to representing more-than-human life taking place underground.
The exhibition opens at 17.00
