ZEND is a festival in The Hague designed for media creators. It centers on discovering the right tone and form to express your personal experiences and stories. The focus is on how you can use self-created sounds, images, or text to shape a space and raise awareness of the impact these creations can have. How does your perspective mirror the reality of the outside world? ZEND provides a platform for these diverse stories, offering a stage for local creators and media platforms in The Hague.

ZEND masterclass

On the 14th of September, Julia Schmitz en Erik Lucassen host the masterclass “Het beeld deelt.”

“We are surrounded by countless images, the archives are overflowing, and you too create and consume images daily. The image-making and image-consuming person is engaged in a continuous play of interpretation and formation, and together we construct life as we know it. Art historian W.J.T. Mitchell prefers to consider what images want, rather than what they do. “Like people, pictures don’t know what they want; they have to be helped to recollect it through a dialogue with others” (Mitchell). Images also need interpretation to understand what they want to convey. And those interpretations are endless.”
