HIGHLY SKILLED MIGRANT is STATE.DPT’s inaugural club night programme, transforming its research and cultural practice into a physical, high-velocity dancefloor intervention.
The programme is an ode to displaced bodies, minds, and histories that shape the cutting edge of global contemporary culture. Its title humorously subverts the Dutch immigration category Kennismigrant (Highly Skilled Migrant) — a highly transactional classification that, for many, represents an exhausting bureaucratic gauntlet. The term points to a system that reduces human identity to corporate sponsorship, professional qualifications, and economic output.
HIGHLY SKILLED MIGRANT reclaims this label and asks what societal “value” can mean beyond economic contribution. The programme creates a space for cultural exchange shaped by the people whose experiences of migration, displacement, identity, and belonging sit at its centre.
Through music, performance, and collective experience, the club night turns the dancefloor into a space for connection, dialogue, and resistance — placing migrant perspectives not at the margins, but at the centre of the cultural programme.

STATE.DPT is a grassroots cultural enrichment agency and creative studio operating at the frontlines of subculture since 2020. Headquartered in Den Haag, the agency bridges the gap between white-cube academic theory and underground club networks. Its cultural ethos challenges the boundaries of collective responsibility and community engagement through provocative imagery, archival documentation, and sociopolitical wit.
As a champion of diverse and left-field cultural experiences, STATE.DPT has produced exhibitions, panel talks, concerts, and multidisciplinary creative productions across the Netherlands. Its practice explores the intersections of culture, identity, politics, and contemporary society, creating platforms for alternative perspectives and forms of cultural exchange.
