Dinner Session: Elnaz & Mahtab + Silk
Another week, another dinner session. Join us for an inspiring evening carefully balancing delicious food and pleasant tunes.
Inspired by artist Gordon Matta-Clark’s restaurant FOOD, which existed in the 1970s in New York, The Grey Space invites people to come and cook affordable meals as an artistic and social expression during our weekly Dinner Sessions. DJs will guide the evening musically and make you dance after dinner.
For this week’s Dinner Session, the Iranian Elnaz & Mahtab prepare a typically Iranian menu, including a broad choice of dishes. Through dinner, Elnaz and Mahtab aim to offer a safe space for conversation about the current situation in Iran. Silk, a moniker of Natousch Gerritsen, accompanies the dinner by playing some groovy tunes.
- Salad Shirazi
- Mirza ghasemi (roasted aubergine in tomato and garlic sauce and with eggs)
- Mast o Khiar (Yogurt, cucumber, and herbs)
- Sabzi khordan (fresh herbs)
- Turkish cheese with walnuts
- Nan
For Dessert, they serve Persian Halva, which is traditionally shared during grieving.
- Doors open at 17.00, Dinner starts at 18.30.
- Payment at the bar (pin only).
- Students get 20% discount on the drink menu.
- Reservations: via reservations@thegreyspace.net. Please mention your name, the amount of guests and the date.
Elnaz and Mahtab, both Iranian women, work as creative artists in The Hague, a collaboration they started in 2019. Their projects demonstrate how individuals in certain restrictions can find creative outlets to mediate personal distress and address political injustices. In the context of the recent events happening in Iran, they have started searching for ways to initiate a way to invite people for conversation.
Natousch Gerritsen is a tour de force as far as DJs go. With an eclectic collection of records and an ear for catchy hooks, she takes you along for a ride full of funky post-punk sounds. Natousch is the singer of the band TOUSCH and when she is not moving up and around the stage, she seeks to make you move to the best post-punk, funk, and ‘80s new wave bangers.
For our Dinner Sessions, we’re always looking for cooking enthusiasts, artists, or other humans with a passion and talent for food. Feel welcome to reach out to us! Some experience with preparing food for – and serving to – larger (30+) groups is required.
