Presented by The Grey Space

Pensive Vivifier joins the Open Space residency program at The Grey Space, in which they will develop their practice by exploring the merging of the physical and the digital through performative live collages. Open Space takes on the form of an ongoing exhibition and public events.

Pensive Vivifier is an art collective consisting of Janne Kosmos, Tes Wolters Bos and Silva Westera. Their practice is always expanding and incorporating new elements and disciplines to reflect on identity, transformation and the fragmented and saturated world on our screens. Fluid movement, intuition and curiosity guide them to combine installations, videos, music compositions and performances. They apply a musical approach to structure and practice association as a methodology. Their sources are footage and material hijacked from TikTok, YouTube, PrnHb and books, and everyday life.

Events

During their residency they continue to work on KOSMOSE – a multimedia project, based on the idea that the entire cosmos is one symbiosis. On Friday March 8 we kick-off the Open Space residency during HOOGTIJ by presenting KOSMOSE as an ongoing video installation and bringing it to live with a performance at 20:30 and 22:00. Admission is free.

On May 4th, as part of Fusie Club, Pensive Vivifier shape-shifts KOSMOSE into a visual and danceable concert. They pull the internet out of the screen and place it right in front of your nose. Submerging the space, the audience and the performers into one world.

On June 12 we close Pensive Vivifier’s Open Space residency with an intimate performative dinner with contributions from artist Mattia Papp, psychologist Ángela Cáceres and curator Ewa Scheifes.

Open Space

Together with makers and the audience, we approach our own programs in a relational way: as communication and ongoing interaction. How can an artistic practice act as a conversation piece? During a two-month residency, a maker is invited to appropriate (a part of) The Grey Space. In addition to space, resources and tools, we open up our network, provide feedback and actively involve the audience during public events. At best, our Open Space program affects the thinking of both audience and maker – and thus relationality becomes radical.
