Worried about the Future: From Overwhelm to Climate Action
Hosted by The Alternatives Factory & Just Peace Festival
Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, powerless about what is going on? Worried about the future the next generations will face? You are not alone.
With an endless stream of bad news, it’s easy to feel disconnected, powerless and even paralysed. This session offers something different: a moment to breathe, reflect, and begin imagining tomorrow, together.
The session will begin with a short and honest presentation on the current climate reality. From there, participants will be guided through a creative and interactive journey involving art, video, storytelling, and grounding exercises.
Gregg Hone, also known as Gregg the Artivist, is a visual storyteller who merges art and activism to confront the climate crisis. Using cardboard sculptures, video narratives, and public installations, he transforms climate anxiety into creative expression and collective action. His work encourages communities to engage emotionally and imaginatively with the realities of climate change, aiming to turn despair into a sense of agency.
Laura brings a background in environmental science and agronomy, with over two decades of experience working with the United Nations and international organisations. Now working as a facilitator and certified coach, Laura focuses on social justice and climate action. She experiments with participatory methods to help others move toward agency, co-creating practical alternatives for a more hopeful future. Her work is rooted in a core belief: meaningful change becomes possible when people come together with intention.
Gregg and Laura began collaborating in 2024, united by a shared passion for climate action and creative experimentation. Together, they explore the intersection of emotional honesty, creativity, and evidence-based frameworks to support those feeling stuck, and to help catalyse movement toward a more just, joyful, and liveable world.
This is not a lecture. It is a space for connection, imagination, and emotional honesty. Through collaborative art-making and small group reflections, participants will explore what truly matters to them and what kind of future they wish to shape. The session will conclude with tangible ways to stay connected and take action, including a curated list of initiatives, tools, and follow-up opportunities.
This session is open to everyone, residents and visitors of The Hague from all walks of life, both Dutch and international. No prior knowledge of climate science or artistic experience is necessary. Whether someone is curious, confused, anxious, or already engaged, they are welcome.
Those feeling stuck, uncertain, or isolated in their concern for the climate and the future are especially encouraged to attend. This space is created with them in mind.
Because people need space to feel, process, and reconnect, not just more facts. And because action becomes more possible when taken together.

Event starts: 18.00
Event finishes: 21.00
Audio-visual content will be delivered in English with Dutch text. Informal Dutch translation will be available during group exercises, and all materials will be provided in both languages.
