I’m So Bored I Could Die is a two-day workshop led by artists Ingeborg Kraft Fermin and Lou Vives. In this workshop, over two afternoons, Kraft Fermin and Vives will explore the mash-up as an artistic methodology. In this workshop participants will experiment with how different contexts, settings, and formats transform meaning, from spoken word and stand-up comedy to performative lectures and infinite scrolls (sometimes simultaneously). Where do Art, Content, and Entertainment overlap, and what ultimately distinguishes them? Why does it matter to understand the tools we use as image-makers today?
Through shared discussion, a presentation of artists and references who inspire Kraft Fermin’s and Vives’ practices, and short performative exercises, participants will be invited to experiment with their own interests and desires. There will be an optional opportunity to present works in progress on March 18 at The Grey Space.
Snacks and refreshments will be available throughout both dates.
Ingeborg Kraft Fermin’s (b. 1993) interdisciplinary practice examines mediated reality, tracing how desire, memory, and attention are shaped as everyday life is constantly filtered and documented. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, Sweden.
Lou Vives (b. 1999) works with writing, performance, and drawing. They explore memory and referentiality, often in relation to art history and contemporary culture. They have presented work at venues including Perdu and Garage Noord (Amsterdam), Sala de Arte Joven (Madrid), Fundació Miró (Barcelona), and Kunsthalle Lissabon (Lisbon). Occasionally, they contribute to the art criticism platform Tangents.
Ingeborg Kraft Fermin and Lou Vives are former ‘artners’ as the characters Content and Contenido during their time at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Content y Contenido were interested in the absurdity of celebritification, the poetics of daily life, gender politics, instant gratification, and—above all—fun. Through performance, text, and organizing, they amplified the contradictions of being an artist in the social media Wild West. Their projects have been presented at institutions including La Casa Encendida (Madrid), Arti et Amicitiae (Amsterdam), and Galeria Zé dos Bois (Lisbon).
This event is part of the Open Space program that facilitates the interaction between the artistic practice of a maker, their work(s), the space and the audience. During a three-month residency, Lou Vives is invited to appropriate (parts of) The Grey Space. In addition to space, resources and tools, we open up our network, provide feedback and actively involve the audience during public events.
Our Open Space programme is made possible by the Municipality of The Hague, Creative Industries Fund NL, and Stroom Den Haag
