default den haag closes off their fall program with a varied program focussing on the performative.
default#12 presents performances by Clara de Asís (ES/NL), a composer-performer delving into the phenomenology of attention with ‘Disappearance of’—a work for bowed metal bells and synthesizer. London-based improviser Zheng Hao (CN/UK) explores the amorphous in diverse sound spaces through solo and duo performances, together with programmer/improviser Wojciech Kacper Werkowicz (PL/NL), both interested in elegance systems and relations constructed out of concise principles.
The event also showcases works by Germaine Sijstermans (NL), a composer, installation artist, and musician. Sijstermans employs open scores to unfold abstract sound materials organically, fostering non-linear perceptions of time. At default#12, Germaine, along with Leo Svirsky (US/NL) on accordion and Marcus Kaiser (DE) on cello, will perform her two compositions Elexen (2020) and Cashapona (2022).
