The Grey Space presents a platform for young talents to perform within our space. This edition features artists with a love for dreamy indie-folk, who are exploring their sound and creativity in a new, alternative setting.

Tamara van Esch

Tamara van Esch creates eclectic indie folk in the spirit of This Is The Kit and Mitski, intimate, dreamlike and gently unconventional. Her songs pair fragile, sometimes critical lyrics with warm, enveloping arrangements, from the hopeful stories on Tussen Lagen to a forthcoming 2045 sci-fi world voiced by her 200-year-old persona Gracie. Her music has been released internationally and she has performed across Europe and Japan.

Sam Vano

When the city quiets down, Amsterdam-based songwriter Sam Vano retreats to his bedroom, crafting introspective indie-folk songs with a rare honesty. His debut EP solitaire (2023, I Love My Label/Excelsior) led to a sold-out hometown show and touring across the Netherlands, England and France, while his debut album Selfhelpingmehelpmyself, recorded with friends in a modest one-room studio and echoing the spirit of Elliott Smith and Wilco, cemented him as a promising new voice before he withdrew again to work on new material.
