The Grey Space presents a platform for young talents to perform within our space. This edition features artists with a jazz background, who are exploring their sound and creativity in a new, alternative setting.
Amsterdam-based Marta Arpini (1994) is a singer, songwriter and composer of Italian origin. She was originally trained as a jazz vocalist, but moves effortlessly within the realm of indie folk, where she weaves vulnerability together with a sharp melodic sensibility and refined pop structures. Think of the wistful elegance of Andy Shauf combined with the fragile intensity of Adrianne Lenker. Arpini has previously received acclaim for her work in jazz, including an Edison Award, and released her second album, Tender Superpower, earlier this year.
Sander Poleij (1997) studied History at the Erasmus university and keys at the conservatory of Rotterdam. He’s currently working as a keys player in different musical projects (Nienke Leone, Kate! [Bush] tribute band and the Meryn Bevelander band) and as a piano teacher. Meanwhile Sander has been steadily working on his own compositions developing his own sound.
This evening is part of a special program of The Grey Space in which we support young artists, musicians and makers in their careers. The project is supported by the Municipality of The Hague, Fonds 21 and VSB Fund.
