Esther Mugambi (KE/AU)

Performance artist Esther Mugambi questions contemporary social structures that are saturated by communication technologies that allow us to avoid irl engagement. Mugambi’s voice is the main medium. Her performance piece ‘Podcasts for Introverts’ feels intimate and has a relaxing, ASMR-type quality where she mixes personal thoughts with suggestive audio samples.

Avenue Azure (NL/UK)

The Hague based guitarist Pete Harden and pianist Saskia Lankhoorn have been collaborating extensively for over a decade as core members of acclaimed contemporary music group Ensemble Klang. Their duo project Avenue Azure is atmospheric, filled with stillness, ambient, whispers and spectral vocals that feel like a warm and dreamy electronic sound bath.

Mint Park (KR)

Research based electronic music producer, performer and new media artist Mint Park creates heavy textural sound pieces using field recordings and hybrid software processes. Think of slow moving minimalistic textures, layers of saturated crunch, spectral tones and relentless distortion. Her work delves into the uncontrollable powers of nature’s weather system, and draws parallels between the unpredictable and liminal states of being. She has been co-running Unheard Records, an electronic music label focusing on experimental music and sound practices of femme, queer and P.O.C artists.

Stephanie Pan

Stephanie Pan is a voice artist, composer, interdisciplinary maker, performer and curator currently based in The Hague, the Netherlands. At the root of her work is the notion of pure communication; finding a form of contact with the audience which is stripped of social expectations and distractions, that speaks beyond the conventional and social limitations and constructs of language. Her work is visceral, passionate and intense, and often explores the limits of the body and voice.

Sonic Thresholds

In Sonic Thresholds, we look for innovative ideas that enhance audience interaction and investigate new developments in contemporary music. By inviting artists to curate, collaborate and organize with their peers, we aim to support makers to develop their craft and expand their network by creating collective experiences. We hold space for energy and possibility in a safe environment, where music is communication. Where we seek radical relationality and dialogue, where we think together.
