Presented by The Grey Space, curated by Vox supreme.

The next edition of Moving Downstairs, where concerts and performances, immersive sound pieces, collective experiences and clubbing push the boundaries of our basement.

The club event happening on the first of October is curated by DJ, producer and label owner Vox supreme and puts a focus on live acts. Expect everything from hybrid mutated strains of live electronic rave music to low-paced sound experimentation. On this night of exploratory audio and visual surprise all can change within the blink of an eye. This playful approach is not only for the ear but will also be tangible in the dynamic use of light and space.

John T. Gast

Mystery swirls around the UK producer John T. Gast. Typing his name in the search engine is much the same as leaning over a cliff. We hardly know anything about the British producer, if in fact, he is British at all.

His output has been distributed through numerous releases; documented under various aliases. Focused on the visceral physicality of sound and its capacities to engulf and subvert, Gast’s projects include various collaborations. John T. Gast has evolved into a prevalent name in the peripheral club scene, with a live show that deeper explores low-end frequencies and galloping FXs.

“We’ve heard excursions into the moods and melodies of early music and experiments with classical composition. His productions can also include the pace and sounds of grime or industrial techno, the tribal and rhythmic spirit of Irish folk, and the nostalgic pastoral sentiments of some British jazz … Often tracks are driven by a beat inspired by his interest in hard-hitting, low-end dub, roots, and steppers.” – Meg Woof (The Wire, March 2020).

c00
c00 is a producer, glitch DJ, and (life) artist also known as the Italian Glitch Police for her glitchy sounds. She is originally from Milan but is currently based in Rotterdam.  c00 dares to stray off the beaten track with noise-like offbeat sounds made with remarkably random recordings and can miraculously make transitions that no one imitates her without it being frowned upon. At least, that is what we think… c00 herself sent us only the following:
“!!!GLITHC GANG UNIT3D!!!
– Working 0n ur dr3ams 24//7-
Head off-icier of the IT:ALi3N GliTHC P0Lice resident in 010.”
Koiri
Koiri is a traveler from an unknown time period and place who creates rhythms that are Winti-inspired. To reach an altered state, the body has to move as if possessed by rhythmic structures.
Mary
Groundedly navigating nocturnal connections, Mary is seeking elevation in emotional dubs and textures, where she is ready to blend in any significant sound work that she encounters along the way. This night you will find Mary behind the decks together with Vox supreme.

Curated by Vox supreme

Vox supreme is a moniker of artist Lounes Doulache. A notorious figure in the scene by way of DJing and hosting events at clubs and festivals across the borders to holding residencies at Echobox Radio, Kiosk Radio, and the now-defunct Strange Sounds From Beyond festival, running his label traumgarten and founding the Onderwereld collective.

Performing under his alias Vox supreme, he is never quite satisfied with simply churning out dance floor fillers, preferring to blur the boundaries between genres and toy with the expectations of the audience and his own.
