Open Space: Ildikó Horváth – centre OFF gravity
Presented by The Grey Space
Artist Ildikó Horváth will join our Open Space residency program this fall. She will deepen her artistic practice in the face of an audience. Open Space is a residency program that shows an artistic process as an ongoing exhibition.
Horváth’s residency focuses on her work centre OFF gravity. In this long-term project, she explores the way humans interact with their environment by emphasizing on gravity. A sound installation and performance will make the immaterial physical. And by connecting this to tactile materials in the form of kinetic ceramic objects, sound becomes physical.
At The Grey Space, Horváth will expand her investigation of sound to include both digital and analog, interactive soundscape, shaped by the movement of the ceramic elements, possible performers and the audience.
Artist Ildikó Horváth (1986, Hungary) graduated in 2019 from the Department of Ceramics at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Horváth researches sensibility in the relationship between physical and virtual space, with an emphasis on the transformation of matter. She uses materials that are constantly changing, often in combination with sound and digital media.
The Grey Space selected Horváth because of the way she presents her ideas about the mutual influence between our virtual world and the physical environment. She manages to translate this to craft techniques and contemporary technology.
