Dinner Session: Nina Marte Wilson + Thomas Foster

Sun 4 December
17.00–23.00

Another week, another dinner session. Come by for an inspiring evening carefully balancing delicious food and pleasant tunes.

Inspired by artist Gordon Matta-Clark’s restaurant FOOD, which existed in the 1970s in New York, The Grey Space invites people to come and cook affordable meals as an artistic and social expression during our weekly Dinner Sessions. DJs will guide the evening musically and make you dance after dinner.

For this week’s Dinner Session, artist Nina Marte Wilson creates a menu that in her words, is “more than just food, like a sculptural work that ‘happens’ to be eatable”. Director Thomas Foster adds to the performative dinner performance by playing some groovy tunes.

Menu

Inspired by jewels, Nina cooks a menu inspired by this theme, sculpting dishes in such a way that they are nearly wearable. The menu contains three courses and is completely vegan. As a starter, she serves bread bracelets, silky almond cheese, and oven-roasted grapes. She follows up with a main of pearly couscous and broken beetroot crystal and finishes the menu by serving black rice pudding with coconut and kaki fruit as dessert.

The price for this menu is €20.

Nina Marte Wilson

Nina Marte Wilson (1998) graduated in 2022 as a performer and visual artist from the Institute of Performing Arts, Maastricht. There, she moved her focus from the theatrical to more visual work, without letting go of the performative aspect. She works with video art, live performance, photography,  installations, and animation. Lately, she has been combining food and performance and has been experimenting with the ritual of dining: turning food into sculptures and treating ingredients as pieces of art. She celebrates vegetables and fruits and combines them with surprising (edible and non-edible) elements.

Thomas Foster

Thomas Foster is a The Hague-based director, musician, and DJ. As part of 3345, he combines new and current favorite finds and blends them together for an eclectic mix of different genres through which he hopes to achieve a new narrative and musical connection.
