A Grey Space Weekend

A Grey Space Weekend is an adventurous festival consisting of an extensive music program with live acts and DJs, an exhibition, performances, a performative symposium, experience dinners and film screenings.

Driven by the belief that major tendencies in the world find common ground in the relationships between people, this edition of A Grey Space Weekend will focus on the concept of radical relationism. In the program we aim to stimulate encounters between the public, makers and thinkers with backgrounds in different disciplines.

Reach: Performative Symposium

The aim of this performative symposium is not only to share, but to also facilitate (social) revelation by stimulating the most powerful characteristic of mankind: imagination. The event has developed a tradition of sparking this imagination in visitors and participants alike through the engaging both the mind and the body and connecting people form different backgrounds.

This edition centers around Karel van Laere’s artistic research in the context of his newly developed body of work Reach. Besides a panel talk between surgeons Anke Smits and Guus Bökkerink and Karel van Laere moderated by philosopher and biologist Ellen ter Gast, the symposium features performances by dancer Simon Bus, musician Raphael Vanoli and Karel van Laere.

The Grey Space invited OUTLINE to present a live interactive broadcasting performance during the weekend. OUTLINE is a publishing platform and floating collective that aims to create interventions within intermediate spaces, and accelerate an exchange by connecting ideas, artefacts, individuals and localities.
