La Máquina proudly presents a special ‘Rhythm with Signs’ Workshop led by its creator, the one and only Santiago Vázquez.
Open to musicians of all levels and genres, this unique workshop introduces you to the powerful improvisation method developed in Argentina over 20 years ago. Today, ‘Rhythm with Signs’ is used by ensembles around the world, and now it’s your turn to experience it!
On tour through Europe and Japan, Santiago is making a special stop in the Netherlands, and we’re incredibly excited to host him for both a workshop and a live performance.

Percussion ensemble based on improvisation through sign language who combine instruments and grooves from all around the globe.
The whole ensemble grooves and dances to improvised music on the spot thats conducted/created by the conductor with a series of sign gestures. Performed on African sabars, Cuban congas and bongos, Indian tablas, Australian didgeridoo , Bulgarian tupan and more.
Based in The Hague, the group ‘Rhythm and Percussion with Signs’ was formed in 2022 by Argentine percussionist and conductor Ivan Gianakis, together with students from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. They use a unique form of sign language to guide their musical performances.
